Company History

1956 December Establishes TOHSHIN SEIKI CO., LTD. to manufacture cylindrical rollers for bearings. (the present TOHSHIN SEIKI CO., LTD.).
1958 January Prototype receives a high evaluation, and the full-scale sales start.
1961 November Joins the Japan Bearing Industrial Association.
1962 April Relocates the head plant to Terai (the present Nomi City), applicable to the prefectural and municipal ordinance to attract industry. Starts manufacturing tapered rollers.
1968 May Starts manufacturing spherical rollers. Adds on No.5 and No.6 plants.
1971 June Establishes TOHSHIN TECHNICAL SERVICES CO., LTD. (the present TOHSHIN TECHNICAL CO., LTD.) within the head plant as the equipment maintenance division. Adds on No.4 plant.
1974 April Starts manufacturing hollow rollers. Adds on No.1 and No.2 plants.
1981 April Tohshin Technical Services relocates the head plant to the Ao Industrial Park in Terai.
1982 October Starts mass production of precision shafts, pins and needle rollers. Adds on heat treatment plant.
November Develops the grinding machine model TO-20 No.1 machine, and starts the continual renewal for the internal use.
1985 July Completes Technical Center (headquarters administration building).
1987 April Ishikawa Prefecture designates our plant as a TQC model plant.
November MITI recognizes the Vane Pumps as a product to improve small company technology.
1988 February Starts selling CNC Centerless Grinders.
July Establishes TON CO., LTD. (the present TOHSHIN CO., LTD.)
1990 June Completes Tohshin Welfare Center.
1991 March Reorganizes the Tohshin group companies into TOHSHIN SEIKI CO., LTD., TOHSHIN TECHNICAL CO., LTD. and TOHSHIN CO., LTD.
April Tohshin Technical relocates the new head plant to Kokufudai in Komatsu City. Starts full-scale sales of Centerless Grinders and Vane Pumps.
1995 April Tohshin Seiki is designated as the small company rationalization model plant.
May Tohshin Technical's CNC centerless grinder TO-60 series gets awarded with the Brand Grand Prize by Ishikawa, and the Technology Prize by Advanced Process Association.
1996 March Tohshin Seiki concentrates the lathe turning process at the Ao No.1 Plant.
1997 January Tohshin Seiki gets awarded with the Medium and Small Business Research Institute Prize.
1998 April Tohshin Technical releases a whole house washing system called "Home Fresh Water System."
1999 April Tohshin Seiki adds on Ao No.1 Plant to strengthen the lathe turning process.
2000 December Tohshin Seiki acquires ISO9002 in 1994 (RvA: DNV) (renewed to ISO9001: 2000 in 2003/12).
2001 March Tohshin Technical's index infeed type CNC centerless grinder TO6020-IF wins the Gold Prize in the Ishikawa Brand Excellent New Product Machine Industry Division.
2002 May Tohshin Technical develops the world top class silent Vane Pumps series.
November Tohshin Seiki adds on No.7 plant.
2003 March Tohshin Technical develops Sigma II series.
June Tohshin Technical develops the angular centerless grinder TO-6020S-A.
2004 December Tohshin Technical acquires ISO9001: 2000 (RvA: DNV).
2005 March Tohshin Seiki acquires ISO14001: 1996 (RvA: DNV) (renewed to ISO14001: 2004 in 2006/3).
December Tohshin Seiki adds on Delivery Center.
2006 April Tohshin Seiki is selected as one of the “Top 300 of Japan's Exciting Monozukuri (Manufacturing) SMEs” by the Small and Medium Enterprise Agency, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
December Tohshin Seiki adds on Ao No.2 plant and integrates the processes for manufacturing tapered rollers into one plant.
2007 December Tohshin Technical acquires ISO14001: 2004 (RvA: DNV).
2008 October Tohshin Technical develops the low environmental burden type centerless grinder TO-6045 II.
2010 February Tohshin Seiki receives a “Jury’s Encouragement Prize of IT Management Awards for Small and Medium Enterprises” by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
2014 March Tohshin Seiki Selected as one of the 100 Global Niche Top Companies by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
May Tohshin Technical develops miniature centerless grinder TO-3020T-FF.
November Tohshin Seiki Received the "Good Company Award/Grand Prix" from the Research Center for Small and Medium Enterprises.
2016 October Tohshin Seiki expands the north building of the Ao No. 2 plant to strengthen the production of automobile-related rollers, including needle rollers.
2016 October Tohshin Technical develops TO-6040T-FC-TF, a fixed type centerless grinding machine.
2020 June Tohshin Seiki renovates the No. 2 plant to strengthen the capacity of the Heat Treatment.
2022 June Tohshin Seiki Receives the Ishikawa Prefecture Employers Association "Kagayaki Company Award."
2022 August Tohshin Technial’s Centerless Grinder TO-6040T-FC-TF is certified as a good Ishikawa brand product.
2023 January Tohshin Group implemented a business restructuring of group companies, making Tohshin Corporation as the group management company (holdings).
2023 March Tohshin Group certified as Health and Productivity Management Organization (Top “Bright” 500 Small and Medium-sized Enterprises) by Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
